Cloud Hosting vs. Typical Virtual Server

Friday, November 18, 2011 posted by admin 4:38 am

The use of cloud hosting has increased as compared to the typical virtual servers used to host websites. However there is a lot of difference between these two types of servers. The first is storage location; virtual have a limited amount of storage and resources, whereas cloud servers have a large amount of storage for you to use. The second difference is that virtual servers have a low storage tolerance; this means if both the hard drives fail, all your data is lost. In the clouds servers there are about 7 drives, and it is very unlikely that all will fail. The third difference is that the costs of virtual servers are very high due the plans that are offered to the user. The cloud servers are better priced because they have better control over their resources. The fourth difference is that cloud servers have a full redundancy whereas the virtual servers have none.
